Cables
We stock a wide range of cables and adaptors. We believe a cable is one area where you should not skimp on quality. All too often reversing camera kits come with poor grade cables. Ours we have made to a high standard from pure copper and can cope with the higher frequencies used by todays high resolution cameras. They 4 pin aviation cables have both a foil shield and a braid. The foil is effective at higher frequencies and the braid at lower. By using both together they compliment each other. It also means as the cable bends it maintains a continuous shield if the braiding separates. We use pure copper rather than the cheaper CCA 0r CCS alternatives as they withstand flexing which is common in cable and are easier to solder if required. The 4 pin connectors have a locking collar which compresses an ) ring to form a water tight seal. Rubber boots can also cover these to give a second layer of protection. The external of the cable is PVC which is considered a fire resistant plastic needing a high temperature to get it to burn and will self extinguish once the source of heat is removed. Other advantages of PVC are that it releases less combustion heat than other plastics - hence contributes less to maintaining and spreading fire – and produces no or very few flaming droplets or debris. It does however give off unpleasant fumes in a fire.
We usually add a coloured tape on the 8mm adaptors. With these you should only plug the connector together if the colours match. This is because there are a wide range in the way these 8mm connectors are wired together so its important to only use those which match.
We stock a range of 4 pin extension cables with lengths from 1m up to 20m. We also stock twin signal cables, that we have nicknamed "Y-cables" - for use with twin lens cameras. The 4 pin connectors provide a water tight connection when screw locking collar is tightened up.
Almost all reversing cameras use 2.1/5.5mm connectors for their power supply. We stock a range of extension cables with this connector which are useful if you do need a bit of extra cable.
If you are looking for a way of connecting a vehicle with a trailer or caravan then we should have what you need here.
There are times when you need to join two different types of connector. We have developed a range of adaptors to do this.
RCA cables are commonly used on the more budget end of the market. We have a variety of low cost cables available.
