AHD cameras and monitors have been around in the CCTV market for several years. They are only just becoming available for use in reversing cameras. Part of the delay was in developing the software to cope with a quickly changing image. They offer an amazing image quality compared to systems from 4 or 5 years ago. They use a high brightness LCD 1024 x 600 panel and the cameras are either CCD or CMOS depending on the camera style. It is the new CMOS cameras that are showing the better image quality and Sony are even stopping production of CCD to concentrate on CMOS technology. The night vision on the cameras is a step up in quality compared to the Sony Effio CVBS cameras. Early AHD reversing camera systems suffered from issues with a slight "flicker" which is why we delayed introducing them. The latest 1080P versions though no longer suffer this issue as they have increased the computing power needed to update the images.
